What Your Skin Is Going Through

Tattoo recovery isn't linear it's four distinct biological phases. TattMagic is engineered to support each one.

01
Phase 1
Inflammation
Days 1 - 3
Redness, swelling, and heat are normal. Your immune system is responding to the needle trauma. Keep it clean and calm.
02
Phase 2
Proliferation
Days 4 - 21
New tissue forms. Itching and light peeling begins. This is where ExoBoost™ exosomes accelerate closure by up to 40%.
03
Phase 3
Remodeling
Weeks 3 - 6
Collagen restructuring defines line sharpness and color clarity. Consistent hydration locks in vibrancy during this phase.
04
Phase 4
Maturation
Month 1+
Long-term stability. UV protection becomes critical. ChromaShield™ SPF 50 fights the #1 cause of ink fade daily.
Step-by-Step Usage

Recovery Gel

Power The Recovery

Recovery Gel is the centrepiece of the TattMagic system. Plant-based TM ExoRestore™ exosomes deliver targeted cellular messengers that accelerate healing across all 4 phases, while PEA peptides block up to 80% of discomfort signals.
How To Use
1
Cleanse first always apply Recovery Gel to clean, dry skin after using the Cleansing Spray.
2
Pump once into clean fingertips. The PureDose™ airless pump delivers an exact, consistent dose every time.
3

03
Stage 03
Hydrating Gel

1
Introduce from Week 3 once surface peeling has fully resolved and fresh skin is settled.
2
Apply once daily - ideally after a shower when skin is slightly damp for maximum absorption.
3
Massage gently into the tattooed area until fully absorbed. A little goes a long way.
4
Use on older tattoos too. Hydrating Gel revives faded ink and improves texture on any piece, any age.

Daily - For Life

Defend Against Fade

UV exposure is the number one cause of tattoo fade. ChromaShield™ triple-spectrum UV block protects your ink from UVA, UVB, and visible light - the three radiation types that break down pigment over time.
How To Use
1
Do not use on fresh tattoos until the skin is fully healed (typically 4-6 weeks). Cleansing Spray and Recovery Gel come first.
2
Apply 15-20 minutes before sun exposure. Cover the entire tattooed area generously.
3
Reapply every 2 hours during prolonged outdoor exposure or after swimming or sweating.
4
Make it a daily habit. Even on overcast days, UVA penetrates clouds and causes cumulative damage over time.

What To Do
Each Phase

Here's exactly which products to reach for and what to expect at each stage of healing.

What's Happening
  • Acute inflammation response
  • Redness, swelling, and warmth are normal
  • Plasma and excess ink may seep
  • Skin is at its most vulnerable
Your Routine
  • Cleansing Spray 2-3× daily
  • Recovery Gel immediately after each cleanse
  • Thin layer only - never over-apply
  • Keep covered if advised by your artist
  • Avoid touching with unwashed hands
Avoid Completely
  • Submerging in water (baths, pools, ocean)
  • Direct sun exposure
  • Tight clothing rubbing the area
  • Any other moisturisers or balms
  • Picking at plasma crust
What's Happening
  • New tissue forming beneath the surface

  • Light peeling and flaking of outer skin
  • ExoBoost™ exosomes most active here
Your Routine
  • Cleansing Spray 2× daily (morning + night)
  • Recovery Gel 2-3× daily after cleanse
  • Resist scratching - tap gently if needed
  • Let peeling happen naturally
  • Stay hydrated internally too
Avoid Completely
  • Picking or peeling skin manually
  • Soaking in water for extended periods
  • Gym equipment rubbing the area
  • Heavy sweating directly on the tattoo
  • Petroleum-based products
What's Happening
  • New skin matrix forms over the ink
  • Lines sharpen and colours clarify

  • Surface may look fully healed but deeper layers are still settling
Your Routine
  • Begin transitioning to Hydrating Gel daily
  • Continue Recovery Gel if skin feels dry or tight
  • Cleansing Spray as needed (once daily)
  • Begin sun protection on healed areas
Avoid Completely
  • Milky film over tattoo is normal - it clears

What's Happening
  • Ink stabilises into the deeper dermis

  • UV exposure now becomes the key threat
  • Ongoing hydration preserves clarity
Your Routine
  • Hydrating Gel daily for colour maintenance
  • Max Protect SPF 50 before any sun exposure
  • Cleansing Spray as part of regular skin care
  • Monthly check-ins to assess ink condition

  • Book a touch-up if fading occurs in specific spots
  • Continue SPF year-round, not just summer
  • Avoid tanning beds - UVA is the silent killer of ink

Do's & Don'ts

Protect your investment. These are the habits that define whether your ink heals legendary or falls flat.

Do Icon
Do This

Keep the area clean with TattMagic Cleansing Spray 2-3 times a day, especially in the first week.

Apply Recovery Gel in a thin, even layer always on clean, dry skin after cleansing.

Let peeling happen naturally. Your body is doing its job.

Wear loose, breathable clothing over the healing tattoo to avoid friction.

Stay hydrated internal hydration supports skin regeneration.

Use SPF 50 every time the healed tattoo will be exposed to sunlight, even on cloudy days.

Sleep on clean sheets and change pillowcases frequently during the healing window.

Follow your tattoo artist's specific aftercare guidance alongside this system.

Contact your artist or a dermatologist if you notice unusual swelling or discharge beyond Day 5.

Don't Icon
Never Do This

Pick, scratch, or peel the tattoo ever. This directly damages ink pigment and creates scarring.

Submerge the tattoo in a bath, pool, hot tub, or ocean until fully healed (minimum 4 weeks)

Apply Vaseline, petroleum jelly, coconut oil, or unverified balms - they suffocate healing skin.

Expose the fresh tattoo to direct sunlight during the first 4-6 weeks.

Use exfoliating products, acids, or retinols on or near the healing area.

Over-apply Recovery Gel a thick, goopy layer blocks airflow and prolongs healing.

Shave over the area until peeling is complete and fresh skin has settled.

Apply SPF to a fresh, unhealed tattoo only use on fully healed skin (4-6 weeks+).

Go to a sauna, steam room, or do intense cardio with the tattoo exposed in the first two weeks.

Know The Signs

Normal vs. Seek Help

Not everything that happens during healing is a problem. Here's how to tell the difference.

Normal Healing Signs
  • Redness and mild swelling in the first 3 days
  • Itching and flaking during Days 7–14
  • A milky or slightly cloudy film over the ink
  • Some colour appearing lighter during peeling (it comes back)
  • Slight raised texture that fades over weeks
  • Warmth around the area in the first 48 hours
Mild Irritation - Monitor Closely
  • Excessive dryness or tightness (increase Recovery Gel frequency)
  • Slight oozing in the first 24–48 hours (clean and re-apply gel)
  • Temporary redness after Cleansing Spray contact (normal for sensitive skin)
  • Uneven healing between areas of the same tattoo
  • Minor bruising from heavy needle work in sensitive areas
Consult Your Artist or Dermatologist
  • Redness spreading significantly beyond the tattoo border after Day 3
  • Fever, chills, or flu-like symptoms alongside tattoo symptoms
  • Yellow or green discharge (signs of bacterial infection)
  • Hot, hard, or extremely swollen skin beyond 72 hours
  • Pus-filled bumps or blisters forming on the tattoo
  • Increasing (not decreasing) pain after Day 3
Allergic Reaction Signs
